Subject: EDI 856 Ship Notice/Manifest Revisions

In order to support new business requirements, JCPenney is revising the EDI specifications for the EDI 856: Ship Notice/Manifest [ASN]. These revisions apply to Version 4030 only.

The revisions include:

• BSN05 Structure Code from Optional to Mandatory.
• TD1 Max Use = 20 [ANSI]. To allow for shipments with multiple packaging types, i.e. pieces, cartons, GOH-H.
• E-Mail Contact. [Shipment Level PER Segment] 
• Ship-From Postal Code from optional to mandatory. [Shipment Level N4; N403] 
• New REF segment for Inspection Report on indirect imports. [Order Level REF segment with 'IP' qualifier] 
• New PKG segment at Pack Level. To support Catalog Color Code, Retail supplier inspection indicator.

Any partner using the EDI 856 in Version 4030 will be required to begin providing the additional data detailed above, as applicable to their shipments, no later then 12/1/2003. Since we are finalizing our development, the new data is not to be sent until 9/1/ 03 at the earliest.
